Dr Bowden was born in 1959 in Springs on the East Rand (Gauteng).
He obtained his medical degree (MBBCh) from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1987. After a year as an anatomy lecturer at Natal University he spent 5 years in an Anglo American mine hospital as a medical officer in surgery (and urology). He resigned as a chief medical officer in general surgery in 1992
After two years as a general surgery registrar, he completed His urology training was done at Groote Schuur Hospital and University of Cape Town. He obtained his Fellowship in Urology (FCS(SA)Urol) in 1998; after which he returned to the mining industry for 3 years as the Head of AngloGold’s Urology service. In May 2002 he returned to Cape Town to start in Private Practice.
Dr Bowden is trained as a General Urologist with a broad skill set but has a special interest Uro-oncology and Reconstructive Urology.
After been involved in the establishment of Christiaan Barnard memorial hospital robotic surgery program, he under went further training. He is now an accredited Da Vinci Robotic surgeon in Urology

Dr Anesh Naidoo completed his undergraduate training at the University of Natal in 1994 and then served his internship at Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town. Two years were spent as a registrar in general surgery and eighteen months as a registrar in radiology.
He then trained as a urologist at the University of Stellenbosch and Tygerberg Hospital and qualified as Urologist in 2005 and then worked as consultant Urologist at Tygerberg Hospital for two years before going into private practice at Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital.
His fields of interest includes laparoscopic surgery for the kidney and prostate, laparoscopic pelvic organ prolapse surgery, donor nephrectomy and renal transplantation.

PROF JOHN LAZARUS

Prof John Lazarus completed his urological training at the University of Cape Town.
Following qualification he was senior lecturer in stone disease / endourology at Groote Schuur Hospital and Paediatric Urology at Red Cross Children’s Hospital. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2012 and was appointed Head: Division of Urology in 2013. He recently completed a mini-fellowship in uro-oncology at St George’s University Hospital, London.
